When Should I Propose ?

If you're thinking of popping the big question, you might have another plaguing thing on your mind - when exactly is the best time to propose? While your loved one will probably say yes regardless, it's a good idea to make the occasion an extra special one, that neither of you will ever forget.

Here are a few tips on deciding when to propose.

When you've got the right ring

While proposals are all about love, lots of people want to wait until their future spouse has the ring of their desires before popping the question. An engagement ring is a lifelong piece of jewellery, so it's understandable that some people want to go all out. If your beau has diamonds on their mind, you can check out our pieces here. Either way, it's a good idea to wait until you've saved up enough money to buy a ring before proposing.

Plan an occasion that means something to both of you

If you have been together for a year or more, chances are that you will have sentimental places and activities as a couple. Maybe you could revisit the place where you went on your first date, or where you first exchanged 'I love you's. You can never go wrong with revisiting good memories!

Or plan something you've dreamed of doing

Have you always spoke about visiting Paris? Tell them that you've got a surprise for them, and don't let on until you get to the airport (just make sure that you have their passport!). If there is somewhere special that the pair of you have always spoken about going and you can afford the price tag for it, this is one of the most romantic ways you can propose.

Propose at home if you can't wait any longer

If the only obstacle holding you back from a romantic proposal is money, and you have already got a ring, then you could also propose at home. This can be just as romantic and is very budget-friendly. Cook a lovely three-course meal with all of their favourite things, and pop the question at the end!
